Ireland - nostalgia
Ireland - nostalgia is not only the Photographer Maria Langen's way to describe her relationship to the people and a country where she lived for one year. Ireland is also “nostalgia” to many Irish. As a consequence of emigration the Irish history, culture and traditions are relatively well known around the world. Ireland is often recognized for its amazing green panoramas, friendly people, colourful doors and traditional music and dancing. Visitors are met with generosity. Getting closer to the Irish you realise that people have been struggling through conflicts, famines and financial crises. Several families have been separated from their loved ones due to recession and emigration. Still today a great number of well educated and young people move to other countries, e.g. United Kingdom, Canada, USA and Australia, to get a job. The photos in this section are mainly produced for all those families who live apart and/or have a relation to Ireland. There is not one single story to be told, people viewing the photos will rather tell their own. Feel free to get inspired by beautiful sceneries, street views or friendly smiles. For other use, commercial and media, the photos must be purchased.
